Another Princess Discovers ClearShield® Glass Protection!

Ritec Marine Services (RMS) in the Netherlands – the specialists in the renovation, ‘non-stick’ protection and maintenance of marine glass – is proud to use the ClearShield Eco-System® to ensure the glass is treated prior to Discovery Princess’s maiden voyage in Spring 2022.

RMS staff are experts in renovating the glass during the ship’s construction stage. They first removed contaminants such as paint splatter, silicone, protective foil from the glass, then gave it a deep clean with specialist Ritec renovation products. With the glass now chemically cleaned, they then sealed it with award-winning durable Ritec ClearShield® ‘non-stick’ protection. This upgraded the glass to ClearShield Eco-Glass® which resists staining from harsh sea salts and other contaminants whilst in service. As a result, crew have a better view from the bridge (maximising visibility and therefore safety) and passengers enjoy unspoilt views from their cabins.

A massive 17,500m2 of exterior glass was treated by RMS on the Discovery Princess. She is the sixth Royal-class ship for Princess Cruises built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, all of which too have had glass upgraded to ClearShield Eco-Glass®.

Ritec Retrospective: Museo Enzo Ferrari, Italy

AST (Advanced Surface Technologies) is Ritec International’s Marketing Partner for Italy. Based in Milan, they have many years of experience with the ClearShield Eco-System®, upgrading ordinary glass to ‘non-stick’, easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass®.

One of the most famous names to come out of Italy is of course Ferrari. This legendary name encapsulates prestige, passion, performance at the highest level and success. It is no surprise therefore that the ClearShield Eco-System®, with its own track record of proven performance, was specified to protect the glass façade of the Museo Enzo Ferrari in Modena. This museum is the brainchild of the “Fondazione Casa Natale di Enzo Ferrari – Museo” (Enzo Ferrari Home & Museum Foundation), whose aim is to promote the Modena region’s rich motoring tradition.

With its roof shaped like a gigantic sportscar bonnet, the futuristic museum building celebrates the life and work of Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the eponymous sports car marque. Inside is a permanent exhibition displaying some of Ferrari’s most noteworthy automobiles, including rare cars from the 1950s, Formula One racing cars and more recent sports cars.

The museum’s entire glass façade (almost 500m2) was treated on-site with ClearShield® during its construction in 2011 by AST. ClearShield® – the protective element of the ClearShield Eco-System® – is a unique glass surface treatment that upgrades ordinary glass surfaces to ClearShield Eco-Glass® that is always easier to clean and keep clean. This helps to maintain the general pristine appearance of the museum.

Because ClearShield® keeps glass looking like new for longer, this special ‘non-stick’ protection is perfect for use in museums and showrooms.
