ClearShield® Protection for Marine Glass is Tough as Diamonds!

Diamond Princess is a British-registered cruise ship owned and operated by Princess Cruises. She has the distinction of being the first ever Princess Cruises ship to be built in a Japanese shipyard, specifically the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) shipyard in Nagasaki. Whilst there, the ClearShield System® was used to renovate and protect 12,000m2 of glass, ensuring it is stain-resistant, easy to clean and keep clean and ultimately looking like new for longer.

The ClearShield System® application was carried out by Ritec International’s Marketing Partner in Japan, TBKK (Toa Boeki Kabushiki Kaisha) in 2004, under the supervision of Stefan Roelands, Ritec’s marine application specialist based in the Netherlands. Specialist after-care products were recommended to prolong the service life of ClearShield®, and these were used by maintenance teams.

By chance late last year, Mr Junji Nozaki, TBKK’s Managing Director, came across the Diamond Princess whilst docked in Yokohama. Junji observed the glass, particularly the cabin windows and balustrade panels, and all were looking sparkling clean. He has no doubt that ClearShield® is still doing its job, even after an amazing 15 years, keeping the glass looking as good as new with reduced maintenance requirements.

Diamond Princess is a prime example of everything great about ClearShield®:

  • The System renovates and protects the glass, upgrading it to a superior, ‘non-stick’ easy-clean surface;
  • ClearShield® protection is durable despite constant exposure to harsh conditions;
  • using the recommended after-care products prolongs the life of ClearShield®, significantly reducing costs and delays from having to replace badly-stained glass;
  • the glass looks cleaner for longer which in the cruise ship industry, means fewer complaints from passengers who cannot enjoy nice seaviews due to heavy staining on the glass.

Durable ‘non-stick’ ClearShield® protection for glass is proven in the marine sector and others too, including architectural, residential, decorative, offshore, shower and food & hygiene. For more information, visit www.ritec.co.uk.

Ritec SafeContractor Accredited & Verified for 8th Year Running!

Yet again Ritec successfully attains Alcumus SafeContractor Accreditation along with Safe PQQ (PAS91) Verification!

It gives Ritec great pleasure in receiving these accolades in what has been a challenging year for businesses. Despite the global pandemic, Ritec’s commitment to the safety of its staff, customers, suppliers and members of the general public is still at the top of their priorities.

Ritec’s Martin Burkett, who was responsible for the accreditation process, comments: “SafeContractor Accreditation for the eighth year running proves that not only Ritec as a company, but each and every member of our staff, takes this seriously. Along with Safe PQQ (PAS91) verifying our capability to deliver and compliance with specific regulations, these were only achievable with cooperation of our hardworking staff, so a big ‘thank you’ goes out to them!”

Martin continues: “Ritec as usual continues to provide information and assistance on Health and Safety, imparting our knowledge to our network of Marketing Partners and licensed applicators, helping them to produce suitable documentation, work in a safe manner, and understand that their actions have wider implications.”
