Roshnak Surface Care Systems, based in Raipur, India, recently celebrated their 10^th year anniversary as Ritec International’s official Marketing Partner in the region. In that time, they launched Ritec’s ‘non-stick’, easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass® in India and have become very successful. Mrs Ujwala Bhagwat, the owner of Roshnak, explains the story:

“Ten years ago, I visited the Ritec International factory in the UK with the intention of understanding their business. I remember being excited by the potential of all these cutting edge and innovative products in the Indian setting which was a booming and developing market, hence Roshnak Surface Care Systems was born. I did not underestimate the work that would go into it though and I felt motivated every day to achieve our vision of all glass – ‘Non-Stick’.

Ten years later, I am as motivated as ever. The Indian glass industry has accepted the ClearShield® trend-shift with open arms. We are happy to be early adopters of this unique glass surface protection technology in India. We have managed to proliferate into different levels of the glass industry in the past decade, from small scale applicators and fabricators, to large scale glass processors and even architects. We offer an on-site glass renovation, protection and maintenance service, saving our clients time and money from having to replace glass. We now have 50+ partners all over the country, encompassing almost 20 states. We have also won industry awards, a sign that ‘we’ve made it’!

Having said all this, I feel this is still just the start and if we have learnt something after treating more than a million square feet of glass with ClearShield®, is that ‘Non-Stick’ Glass Surfaces are here to stay. ‘Non-stick’ easy-clean ClearShield® protection is perfect for balustrade glass – even in aggressive coastal environments – as this project in Papamoa, New Zealand demonstrates.

Papamoa, also known as Papamoa Beach, is a suburb of Tauranga, located about 7 miles from the city centre. This beautiful location is popular for fishing, surfing, and as a holiday retreat.

The new owners of a house right on the beach, however, felt they were not getting the full advantage from their investment: the balustrade glass had become badly stained due to long-term exposure from the salt and sand from the beach right on their doorstep.  They wanted the glass restored back to how it was plus having some way of making it easier to clean in the future; replacing the glass was very costly and not an option.

Den Nationale Scene (National Theatre) is the largest theatre in Bergen, Norway and is one of the oldest permanent theatres in the country, opening in 1850 as ‘Det Norske Theater’ (The Norwegian Theatre). The theatre closed in 1863 after bankruptcy, re-opened in 1876 in the same building with its current name before moving to a different building in 1909.

Over the years, Den Nationale Scene has undergone major changes, extensions, renovation, restoration and technical modernisation of the stage. More recently, after a year and a half of renovation work on the roofing and façades, the glass was left in a poor state. Despite much time and effort, workers found it impossible to remove the concrete dust, pollution and tree sap that had all firmly bonded to the glass.

Rather than having to replace the glass at massive expense and inconvenience, they discovered OverflateXperten (‘surface specialists’ in Norwegian) who had the perfect, proven solution. They could get the glass looking as good as new in little time and at substantially lower cost.

Although the cottage’s huge glass windows were of course new when installed, they were exposed to dirt. Additionally, Roshnak found limescale had started to form on the glass surface due to hard water moisture attack. The solution was application of the award-winning Ritec ClearShield Eco-System®, developed for the renovation, ‘non-stick’ protection and maintenance of glass. This System upgrades ordinary unprotected glass to superior, easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass®.

Roshnak first renovated the glass using specialist Ritec Glass Renovator products to get it back to its ‘as-new’ appearance before protecting it with unique ClearShield® glass surface treatment. The new Outram Community Hospital (OCH) in Singapore is a 19-storey building comprising of 550 beds. Opened in December 2019, the OCH is the first community hospital providing step-down care in southern Singapore where government figures show there is a higher proportion of patients aged 65 years and older.

The Hospital has been designed and furnished to resemble a public estate, so patients can learn how to adapt after they return home. For example, the hospital has facilities that resemble the interiors of buses and trains, for patients to learn to navigate the public transport system using a wheelchair.

Approximately 20,700m² of glass was factory-applied with ClearShield® by two different façade contractors.
