Updated: South African Coastal House Protected from Limescale Attack!

Earlier this month we described how a property in Western Cape, South Africa had been suffering from severe limescale attack on the glass. The property is located very near the sea, and uses borehole water for its garden irrigation system. The high level of dissolved solids in the borehole water, coupled with the regular winds from the SW and SE which come off the ocean, makes the alkaline attack relentless.

James from DCPRO (a local licensed ClearShield Applicator specialising in renovating dirty glass and protecting it with ‘non-stick’, easy clean ClearShield® protection) was contracted to provide the solution. During the renovation phase, James used Ritec Limescale Remover to clean the glass fast and with minimal fuss and stunning results.

The property’s owner was delighted with the demonstration and specified award-winning Ritec ClearShield Eco-System® treatment for the sea-facing windows, balustrade, a skylight and shower glass. In all, 98m² of glass was treated, upgrading the existing glass to ‘non-stick’ ClearShield Eco-Glass®. This higher performance glass will resist future limescale attack and other forms of staining, and will look pristine for longer with lower maintenance requirements.

As the happy property owner pleasingly discovered, you can get brand new-looking glass without having to pay for brand new glass!

Any ordinary glass, interior or exterior, domestic or commercial, can be upgraded to easy-clean ClearShield Eco-Glass® including splashbacks, mirrors, decorative glass, glass furniture, solar panels and partitions. So if you have a problem with dirty glass, contact the experts at Ritec!

Go Glass Provide Protective Screens Fit For a King!

Screens SM

Go Glass, an independent glass design company in Cambridge designed, produced and installed protective glass screens for King’s College, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.

In a world where hygiene is more important than ever before, Go Glass were commissioned to design bespoke glass protection screens for this historic college, founded in 1441 by King Henry VI. From the outset, Go Glass knew an off-the-shelf acrylic product was never going to fit the bill and accepted the challenge to come up with the ideal customised solution. Drawing on the experience of their Design Director and his team, and utilising specialist glass processes including UV bonding, Go Glass proudly supplied and installed these glass screens to the Porters’ Lodge. The screens incorporated the King’s College logo, etched onto Go Glass’s toughened ‘hygiene glass’.

Go Glass’s new range of hygiene glass is powered by award-winning, ‘non-stick’ easy-clean Ritec ClearShield® glass surface treatment. Not only is treated glass easier to maintain and looks pristine for longer, it has been independently tested to resist the adhesion and growth of bacteria. Porters’ Lodge staff and visitors are now adequately protected from each other, and any germs on the screens will not adhere to the surface, so are easily removed during cleaning. These measures help to promote a more hygienic environment.
