Glass Renovation and Protection of Grand Hotel Impresses Guests and Management
Regular guests at the Grand Hotel Tijuana actually thought 16,500m2 of glass were replaced after the dramatic renovation and protection of the façade by Transparencia en Servicios, Ritec International’s partner in Mexico. Such is the power of the ClearShield Eco-System™.
Located within the central business district of Tijuana, Mexico, the complex consists of two towers, one of which houses the five-star Grand Hotel. At 89.9m high (28 storeys), the impressive towers were among the first skyscrapers built in the city, and certainly the tallest when their construction was completed in 1982.
More than 35 years later, after undergoing a complete refurbishment of the lobby and guest rooms, the façade was left to look stained and dirty, with regular cleaning no longer being effective.
The ClearShield Eco-System™’s unique renovation process brought the glass back to its original sparkling appearance before being protected with the durable award-winning ClearShield® protection. This not only ensures that the glass will resist the staining that it previously suffered, but it will also make cleaning quicker and easier as well as less frequent.
Pink, blue and purple aluminium profiles around the glass also underwent a deep clean with Ritec’s specialist Ritepolish product to complete the full restoration of the façade.
Mr Gerardo Delgado, the Grand Hotel’s Operations Manager, says: ‘We tried different products but unhappy with results and patience almost ran out. It was when we found out about ClearShield®, we did a test treatment and were very happy with the result. We decided to apply it to the whole building… results are outstanding.’
Our sincere congratulations to Ivonne Campos, Founder and Director General of Transparencia en Servicios. Ritec’s long-standing, experienced and highly knowledgeable Marketing Partner, Ivonne approached the Grand Hotel and successfully completed this project.
Ritec International’s MD, Stephen Byers, comments: ‘If you need a proven and durable solution to ‘problem glass’, and wish to avoid costly replacement, contact us now at info@ritec.co.uk. We have a global network of partners that can help.’
Did you know … Cruise lines protect glass surfaces on their ships at the end of the construction!
There is a solution to dirty glass! Ritec Services offer cruise lines, shipyards, and ship window / balcony manufacturers a complete and unique service that helps keeping glass on cruise ships looking like new, whilst reducing water and crew time requirements for its cleaning, and maximising passenger satisfaction.
The contamination of glass surfaces starts long before the ship’s maiden voyage. The construction process is very aggressive to glass, in spite of protective films being used. Glue left over by those films, paint deposits, silicone sealants and deposits of mineral salts create a cocktail of contamination that all contribute to stained and dirty glass, and create higher costs for ship yards and cruise lines.
Ritec’s ClearShield Eco-System™ for the renovation, protection and maintenance of glass ensures all windscreens, balconies, cabin windows and all public areas are clean and transparent for the ship’s maiden voyage, and remain that way in the future. It is a green technology that reduces energy use and avoids the use of harsh and polluting cleaning agents.
Ritec Services’ teams of highly trained and experienced applicators are brought in during the final phase of construction of the cruise ship. They carry out a specialist deep clean to remove all glue, paint, silicone sealants and mineral salts deposits, regaining the ‘as-new’ appearance, sparkle and transparency of the glass.
The glass is then protected to ensure it remains that way for as long as possible. At sea, and especially during the inauguration voyage, crew members may spend less time cleaning glass, using less water doing so. Passengers can take in the amazing views.
ClearShield@ protected glass no longer requires harsh and polluting chemicals for its maintenance. Ritec Services offers full training and a very effective after-care programme.

Do not replace, save costs and renovate with the ClearShield Eco-System™
Ritec Services’ team were in Singapore last weekend to start restoring the ‘as-new’ appearance of the cruise ship the ‘Silver Shadow’ pool-side glass, reducing their maintenance costs and avoiding costly glass replacement. Less crew time and water is now required to keep the glass clean and sparkling, whilst once again offering a pleasant environment and great views to her passengers.
The pool-side glass had been permanently stained by mineral salts (salt-spray), and required high maintenance. Regular cleaning was no longer sufficient to make it look clean and transparent, spoiling the view and the feeling of cleanliness and of a hygienic environment.
Our experienced specialists reclaimed the ‘as-new’ appearance of the glass, impressively restoring its clarity, transparency and ease of maintenance. Ritec Services also provided maintenance training and specialist cleaning products to the crew to keep the glass that way. The glass no longer requires harsh and polluting chemical agents to keep it clean, for a greener environment.
